SUMMARY:The Baltimore Vegetarian September Meetup
DESCRIPTION:The Baltimore Vegetarian Meetup Group\n\nWelcome to Veg Meetup!
! We are a very people-friendly group that welcomes all those who would li
ke to talk and learn more about any aspect of the veggie lifestyle\, includ
 ing health\, food preparation\, compassion for animals\, ecology\, spiritua
lity\, communication skills\, activism\, and more. Please come and enjoy gr
eat food\, group support\, and casual conversation! \n\nKathmandu Kitchen
has a Nepalise/Indian buffet with ample veg and vegan cuisine\, and they o
ften make extra veggies when they know we are coming. The wait staff is ve
ry friendly and atmosphere is spacious and relaxing.\n\nSome of our members
have said that they would like to be more adept at handling the questions
and challenges (with reference to their lifestyle) that sometimes come thei
r way. So we will devote a whole Meetup session to looking at some of the k
ey talking points on the benefits of veg and vegan lifestyles. \n\nTo which
quotes or studies do you like to point to support the claims that veg*ns l
ive longer and avoid the chronic diseases that kill most Americans? Do you
know the key differences in body design between humans and true carnivores?
Do you know which foods are eaten by the species to which we are most clos
ely related? \n\nHow do you respond when someone says that it?s perfectly n
atural for certain species to eat other species\, and that we veg*ns are ou
t of touch with the real world\, the natural world? And what about the life
style of the early Native Americans? Don?t they provide good eco-friendly r
ole models for us? And aren?t the Eskimos healthy\, despite the fact that t
hey eat a diet of nearly all animal flesh?\n\nWhat evidence can you show pe
ople to prove that the common chronic diseases that kill Americans aren?t c
aused primarily by bad genes\, or by air pollution\, or by exposure to elec
tronic fields? \n\nWhat makes you so certain that the reports and recommend
ations of government and other major institutional health agencies are attu
ned more to the bottom lines of big business than to the needs of the consu
mer? And if veg*n was clearly healthier for us\, wouldn't that be more wide
ly announced by the media?\n\nMost of the world's greatest athletes eat (or
ate) meat. Doesn't that prove that we are natural meat eaters? What do you
tell someone who says that you will never convince everyone to go vegetari
an?\n\nWhat do we tell those who justify meat eating by saying that the cre
ator gave us dominion over animals\, or that animals have no souls? How do
we respond to those who say that they just don?t have the time to learn how
to cook and eat in a new way?\n\nMaybe you don't want to be a veg*n activi
st\, but would like to have some of theses questions answered for your own
needs or curiosity. Feel free to join us!.\n\nWhat are some of the question
s you have difficulty answering? Please bring a list\, and we?ll see if we
can help you come to a better understanding. Hope to see you there.\n\nA me
tered parking lot is right across the street\, and it's free on Sunday\, as
is metered street parking.\n\nAnd please mark Saturday\, June 14th\, on yo
ur calendar. That is the date for the next Earthsave Baltimore Veg Dinner S
eries event. It will feature a talk by Erica Meier\, who is director of the
popular DC animal protection nonprofit Compassion Over Killing. She will t
alk about how we can work more effectively to help animals by getting more
veggie options on restaurant menus. Theses events always have a nice turnou
t and are lots of fun! For more information\, see http://earthsavebaltimore
.org/. Hope to see you soon!\n\nYou might also want to check out the Baltim
ore Vegan Meetup group\, which is very similar to this one\, but meets on a
Wednesday evening at 7 pm. To register for those meetings\, go to http://v
egan.meetup.com/29/. We think you will enjoy the great food and atmosphere\
, like-minded people\, and lively\, casual conversation. Hope to see you so
on!\n\nMeetup.com now charges each group organizer a monthly fee of $13 for
the great services they provide. A donation of $1 per meeting to help cove
 r these costs would be appreciated. Thanks.\n\nTowson\, MD 21204 - USA\n\n
