To view pictures, a preview, and a map of this location please visit: http://www.vegguide. org/entry/951 And on Saturday night, join Animal Advocates of Arizona and Vegan Arizona for a fun and relaxing dinner at the Blue Nile Cafe to kick-off World Go Vegan Week! This year, World Go Vegan Week is taking place from October 25 through 31. This week is a celebration of compassion and a time to take action for animals, the environment and everyone’s well-being and celebrates what it means to be vegan. Veganism enables people to live in balance with all of Earth's creatures and promote freedom from exploitation for animals as part of their everyday lives. Modern animal agriculture, also known as factory farming, is a tragically cruel and violent industry. During World Go Vegan Week, people are encouraged to become conscious of what - and who - they are eating, the effect it has on the world and that non-violent alternatives exist. Blue Nile Cafe accepts: cash, credit/debit cards. No personal checks. Blue Nile Cafe is an Ethiopian style restaurant that offers mouthwatering and tantalizing vegan options and has rave reviews written by the Phoenix New Times and the Arizona Republic. It has also won "the Best Ethiopian Restaurant" Award for 2007. Seating will be in the 'Traditional Room' (i.e., the back room) and anyone with questions can contact Veronica at: animaladvocatesofaz@ ymail.com. For more info, or to RSVP, visit: http://www.meetup.co m/animal-advocates-o f-az/calendar/116059 07/ While on Sunday evening, there is a VEGAN Meetup at Pei Wei in Glendale! Come and experience the grandeur, the spectacle, the wonder of the world's most succulent and tantalizing foods. You'll discover new and creative dishes, consisting of savory and satisfying flavors, from foodstuffs found only in Nature. Get Real. Have Fun. Enjoy Life. And Living Foods! Hosted by George and Peggy Nungesser. Please contact them for more details, including info on upcoming speakers. Socializing begins around 6:30pm - 7pm, and food at about 7pm - 7:30pm. Please bring a vegan raw food dish, or a salad (fruits, veggies, nuts, spices), or a fruit/veggie platter for six (or more) people. NOTE: The food is usually very good here, and this event typically attracts an older, more of a conservative-type crowd (with the exception of many of our members in attendance, their friends, and a handful of others). There is a speaker each month, and the speaker may 1)be interesting/informat ive (depending on the listener); 2)he/she (sometimes) may be promoting a healthful or quasi-healthful product/service for purchase; and 3)may also promulgate religious propaganda during the course of any given talk. Some of our members have complained about the content of these lectures, especially (when applicable) the religious overtones of some of them. (And the fact that the Vegetarian Society did not warn them, in advance, of the nature of some of the talks... However, we have no control over the content of them. Nor do we sanction any of the products/services discussed that might be promoted in any of the talks.) If you're sensitive to such things, I suggest you make yourself very scarce at that time. There's always safe refuge somewhere on the property where people gather away from the action. - Steve For more information, see http://www.rawfoodin fo.com/catalog/books _howweallwentraw.htm l

Join us for our first official group event on the patio at Zpizza in downtown Phoenix to sample the new tantalizing, zesty, and ultra-VEGAN cheese made from cassava root (NOT soy)! This new cheese looks like the non-Vegan alternative and has a similar texture. You be the judge: Join us and experience it in all its glory firsthand! (See posted picture of an actual Zpizza with the new cheese. Click on the picture for a close-up view.) Zpizza offers a variety of VEGAN specialty pizzas, available on whole-wheat crusts, as well as beer and fountain drinks. There is also a terrific VEG sandwich available, as well as salads, pasta, and a VEG calzone! We will be pre-ordering a number of different VEGAN pizzas on whole-wheat crust and members will pay by the slice. And we will continue to order additional pizza(s) during the event as demand dictates. Or you can order your own food and pay separately. Pizza by the slice costs just $2.50 ($2.71 with tax), or two slices with a 20 oz fountain beverage for $6.25 ($6.77 with tax). A two-slice/beer special is slightly more. NOTE: parking on downtown streets is not FREE until 8pm. You can either pop a few coins into a nearby street meter or take the light rail to the venue. The nearest stop is one block north at Van Buren. To learn more about this sensational 100%-VEGAN, non-dairy food product visit: http://www.daiyafood s.com/products.html
